What’s For Dinner
My senior thesis project What’s for dinner? explores the experience of sharing a meal through design. In this work, I consider different perspectives on meals, seating arrangements, and the plate/table as a frame for conversation. I share my research and ideas in the form of books, videos, and experiences.
Some questions that informed my thinking:
How has the process of sitting at the table helped me connect with others?
What are people’s different perspectives on meals and how does this differ through cultures?
Do seating arrangements reflect equality or food access?
How does the plate or the table create a boundary or a frame for conversation?
What are we really consuming at the table?
Is the table a boundary or a frame?
Is the plate a boundary or a frame?
How can I design an experience?
What is the perfect setting to eat a meal?
Is there research behind this?
Does it differ from person to person?
